The song suggests that the world would be a better place if everyone would take some time and help the needy. Possibilities is a song that reminds people of their responsibility towards the poor. Songs such as Possibilities and Pharisees both have different themes yet they stand out in the tracklist. McGregor and Mullins say in an interview that they wanted to touch on subjects that are unsung by bands of their genre. This song shows a different side of MMF, who are known for upbeat songs. Both songs are mellow, and feature the beauty of Matty’s soothing voice. Songs such as Speechless and Need to Be talk about a love that sees beauty in our flaws a love so perfect that accepts us even at our worst. The album circles around the theme that is suggested by its title. When the song reaches the bridge, Mullins screams, “You are more than enough!” That made my hair strands stand on their ends. The lyricism is well-structured and the song has a climactic feel. The Answer, unlike the previous song, is very uplifting. I vividly picture Mullins inside a dark labyrinth, overcoming every obstacle and finally coming out unhurt. Mullins, no longer dubious nor afraid, now sings about the answer to everything. This song suggests doubt and hopelessness which are contradicted in the next track, the Answer.Īfter more than three minutes of screaming and singing about hopelessness, the album swerves off into the opposite direction. The third track, Sleepless Nights, is the song I like most off the album, aside from the highly amplified beats that give off an action movie atmosphere, Mullins and guitarist Kellen McGregor write about paranoia and anxiety. Mullins expresses his fears and confesses his sins, with God replying, “Come back to me love, I forgive you” it is a beautiful song and is most relatable to Christians such as I who have given in into temptation. It is almost like a dialog between God and vocalist Matty Mullins. The title of the album was inspired by the first track on the album, No Ordinary Love which orbits around an unconditional love that is eager, patient, and forgiving. Their latest album, Unconditional, which was released earlier this year, has indeed struck me in my core. Knowing that their purpose in the music industry is bigger than life, they seem relentlessly keen on releasing more records. But the same cannot be said about the Christian metal band Memphis May Fire for they write songs that embed themselves into their listeners. Unfortunately, nowadays, songs are just merely rhythm and melody with words that make no sense nor stir emotions within us. They channel their thoughts, shaping them into melodies that will hopefully be the anthem of the present generation. When a song is being written, artists pour their hearts and souls into it.
